Project 1 - Progress
We are required to look for an infographic poster online that we think can use some improvements. This itself was already difficult as not everyone will be posting intentionally badly made posters online. I proposed some posters to Mr. Shamsul but none of them were bad enough. Until I finally found a poster that I needed.
There were a lot of flaws in this poster, such as;
- Oddly placed PNG images
- Unappealing color scheme
- Inconsistent layout
After getting approval from Mr. Shamsul, I started working on some sketches.

I also made some sketches for the animation portion and I wanted each box to include a corresponding image, I plan to make the animation in those boxes simple a neat.

I played with the colors and translated my ideas for the boxes in my progress. Instead of using PNG images like the original poster, I decided to draw the images instead for animation purposes.
I thought the pastel colors looked nice so I stuck with it throughout my progress, since it looked very appealing and neat. I struggled with the bottom part as I didn't want the last box to block out any details about the prize information I will put later.

I made some more progress by filling up the background with random shapes, which was one thing I wanted to include from the original poster, and created the shapes that looked like that of my sketch idea. I decided to use a thick font for the poster to make it more easy to read.
Project 1 - Final Infographic Poster
To make the progress easier, I fixed my layers in Illustrator so that I can have some of the elements as separate layers for an easier animating process. I even separated the lightning graphics in a separate canvas to turn each of them into transparent PNGs to use in my animation.

Reflection
I think these projects allowed me to get creative with how I want to improve something like a flawed infographic poster. It was interesting to look for suitable layouts that fit the topic in my redesign. I used what I have learnt from previous exercises to make this redesigned poster, and I was happy with how it turned out because it was the sort of design that was out of my comfort zone.
There were some problems I faced during this project like when I was animating the poster. When I first tried animating it, it was with the messy layers I had before, and that caused some frustrating issues so I needed to fix it in Illustrator before trying again. Thankfully I was able to resolve the issue and the animation progress went smoothly after that.
I think the point of infographic posters is to provide useful and readable information while looking neat and consistent in the design. If a poster has too many things going on, it can cause difficulty for people to read it because it looks clustered and messy. That's what I wanted to prevent when making my redesigned poster, while still including some aspects of the original poster.
