Exercise 1: Mints

As this was a warm-up exercise for us to get familiar with the program, it was an easy task. It was easy to navigate through the user interface and I was able to do this in no time at all.

Exercise 2: Doritos
We were instructed to arrange the video clips provided to us in order in Premiere Pro, as the video clips that were given to us were in a random order. I decided to watch each clip to try to get an idea of what was going on in the original uncut video.

This was very challenging as I would need to rewatch each clip to see which clip would be connected to another clip. I even noted down the order of each clip on a notebook to make sure I wouldn't add a duplicate clip. The beginning and end part was easy to figure out, but the middle part was difficult. I moved around each clip to see if they would match up between the husband's laughing and eating, and decided that this was the final video.

Exercise: Editing Practice 1 (Lalin)
For this exercise, we are told to edit a video by following a video tutorial that was provided to us. We basically need to cut out the parts of the video clips where a director would shout "Action!" and "Cut!", before combining the clips together to have a complete short film. This is what I did for the first part of this exercise.

After all the clips were cut and clipped together, I needed to cut more parts of the video to make it 35 seconds long, which was the requirement for the exercise. This was very tough to do since I needed each clip to end at a reasonable amount of short time to not make the entire video look weird. I also added necessary effects that would make the clips match the original video.

Once I made it to 35 seconds long, I proceeded to add the necessary graphics with suitable effects and sound effects to finish the edit of this video.

Reflections

The exercises helped me gain some knowledge about the programs we would be using in this module and also how we can apply what we learnt here to the film industry, as video and sound go hand-in-hand to make a cinematic hit.

The quizes helped me gain a better understanding about each topic that we were taught and there is a lot of detail that goes into producing video and sound. The more I read about the topics the more I was interested in the art of filmmaking. It takes a lot of work to produce what would be a piece of media that would only take a while to finish watching.
